One of the largest automated washes in operation, Bear Creek Express can wash over 75 cars per hour which means no wait and a great wash.
We made the environmental impact front and centre!
We do not use county or band water but collect our own. We have a totally self-contained water supply collecting our rainwater and reclaiming over 50% when used in the car wash. The pipes that protrude from the ground are the vents for when the water storage tank gets filled with rainwater. It is holds over 130,000 litres so we can collect the rain from the car wash and the gas bar building to use in the wash system.
The friction wash uses less water and the biodegradable soaps are especially chosen for their neutral environmental impact.
Contrary to what many think, washing our cars in our driveways is one of the most environmentally harmful chores we can do around the house. What we rinse off spills down the driveway into storm drains and into rivers, streams, creeks and wetlands where it poisons aquatic life and wreaks other ecosystem havoc.
We have invested significant money in our wastewater system to recycle and treat the water discharge. Water is a precious resource and we have balanced the wash equipment to give the best clean with the least fresh water.
The International Carwash Association, an industry group representing commercial car wash companies, reports that automatic car washes use less than half the water of even the most careful home car washer. According to one report, washing a car at home typically uses between 80 and 140 gallons of water.
